Human Milk: Fast Determination of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)
نویسندگان
چکیده
Human milk provides all the nutrients required by babies during first six months of their life. lipids represent main source energy, contributing almost 50% total energy content. Additionally, fatty acids ensure correct development children in prenatal, postnatal, and infant phases. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is essential for visual cognitive development, its presence childhood can affect long-term health. This study aimed to optimize validate a methodology direct determination DHA human milk. We used 20 samples from lactating women living city Itu, São Paulo, who attended Basic Health Units September 2019 2020, sample certified reference material National Institute Standards Technology. The proposed consists validated mixed transesterification process without prior lipid extraction, optimized factorial design. be successfully as it both precise accurate. values sampled milks were similar those European countries lower than Asian due diet.

Handling & Preparation Instructions This purified fatty acid is liquid at room temperature (oil) and not soluble in water. The product is supplied sterile. It can be solubilized in undiluted serum, ethanol or DMSO. The solubility of Docosahexaenoic acid in ethanol is at least 100 mg/ml. Docosahexaenoic acid has a solubility of 1 mg/ml in a solution of 0.15 M Tris-HCL (pH 8.5). We strongly recom...

Introduction Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid that falls into the larger category of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Although many chronic conditions are associated with excessive intake of dietary saturated and trans fatty acids (including obesity, insulin resistance, coronary heart disease, and some forms of cancer), research shows omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, a...

AIM To investigate whether low docosahexaenoic acid (22:6omega3; DHA) status of malnourished, mostly breast fed infants is a result of low omega3 fatty acid intake via breast milk. METHODS Fatty acid composition of breast milk of eight Pakistani mothers, and of the erythrocytes of their malnourished children was analysed. RESULTS The milk of the Pakistani mothers contained low percentages o...
متن کاملHealth benefits of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is essential for the growth and functional development of the brain in infants. DHA is also required for maintenance of normal brain function in adults. The inclusion of plentiful DHA in the diet improves learning ability, whereas deficiencies of DHA are associated with deficits in learning. DHA is taken up by the brain in preference to other fatty acids. The turnover...
متن کاملDocosahexaenoic acid (DHA) induces apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells.
The docosahexaenoic (DHA), a ω-3 fatty acid, could play a beneficial inhibition of the incidence and progress of a series of human diseases including cancer. It has been report that DHA is involved in cell apoptosis. Recent studies show that the signal transduction pathway links with bcl-2, bax, caspase-3 and MMP-9 molecules. Therefore, we tested the relationship between DHA and cell apoptosis ...
